CVE-2022-34331Network attack vector

Traffic-monitoring bypass via SR-IOV adapter misconfiguration

Published Nov 11, 2022 · Updated May 1, 2025

Improper authentication in IBM Power Systems Firmware FW950 and FW1010 allows remote authenticated users to bypass VEPA traffic monitoring. A sequence of firmware maintenance operations can leave affected SR-IOV adapters misconfigured, disabling VEPA so traffic flows directly between virtual functions instead of through the monitored physical switch port. Exploitation requires high privileges, VEPA mode, and a listed adapter model; packets can also stop forwarding after an update or reset.
