Wi-Fi service hang via Soft AP deadlock
Published Sep 27, 2022 · Updated May 21, 2025
Deadlock in Realtek amb1_sdk before 2022-06-20 allows physically proximate attackers to suspend Wi-Fi service in Soft AP mode. Frequent, continuous four-way-handshake failures leave the timer and RX tasks locked; Realtek has not disclosed the faulty lock operation. Successful exploitation hangs Wi-Fi communication and blocks device registration until restart; Soft AP mode and Wi-Fi proximity are required.
