Incorrect default permissions in Lenovo Notebook BIOS with various affected firmware versions allow local users to disable Secure Boot. A manufacturing-process firmware driver was mistakenly left active and accepts privileged writes to the NVRAM variable controlling Secure Boot. Local elevated privileges are required; successful modification disables a boot-integrity control and enables persistent pre-OS tampering.
