Code execution via unchecked PCB structure write
Published Jul 12, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in all Siemens PADS Standard/Plus Viewer versions allows attackers to execute code through a crafted PCB file. The PCB decoder writes past the end of an allocated structure because it does not enforce the structure boundary. Exploitation requires a user to open the file, and resulting code runs with the viewer process's privileges.
