Process-memory disclosure via unchecked PCB decoding
Published Jul 12, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
An out-of-bounds read in all versions of Siemens PADS Standard/Plus Viewer allows attackers to disclose process memory via a crafted PCB file. The PCB decoder applies an improper bounds check and reads beyond its allocated buffer while parsing malformed file data. A user must open the attacker-supplied file; the resulting disclosure is limited to information available in the viewer process.
