Code execution via out-of-bounds PCB parsing
Published Jul 12, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in Siemens PADS Standard/Plus Viewer all versions allows attackers to execute code via a crafted PCB file. The PCB parser reads past the end of an allocated buffer because decoded file values are not adequately bounded. Exploitation requires a user to open the malicious file, and resulting code runs with the privileges of the current process.
