Arbitrary file write via unchecked ZIP paths
Published Dec 14, 2022 · Updated Apr 18, 2025
Path traversal in Apache Atlas 0.8.4 through 2.2.0 allows remote authenticated users to write files outside the import directory. ZipSourceWithBackingDirectory joins each ZIP entry name directly to its temporary extraction directory without rejecting parent-directory segments. The import API is restricted to administrators, and a crafted archive can overwrite files writable by the Atlas server process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
