Unauthenticated code execution via system token bypass
Published Dec 25, 2023 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper authentication in RWS WorldServer before 11.7.3 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary Java code through its REST API. The isSystemSessionToken function accepts the value 2 as a system session, and some servlet paths strip the leading zero from 02 before the check. Network access to the web application is sufficient to upload a crafted JAR to ws-api/v2/customizations/api and run code with the WorldServer service account's privileges.
