CVE-2022-34173Network attack vector

Stored XSS via unescaped build tooltip name

Published Jun 22, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Stored XSS in Jenkins 2.340 through 2.355 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript through a crafted job display name. The build-button tooltip in list views treats the job display name as HTML and inserts it into the page without output escaping. Exploitation requires Job/Configure permission and a victim to encounter the affected tooltip, enabling script execution in that victim's Jenkins browser context.
