CVE-2022-3416Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Administrator code execution via unvalidated icon upload

Published Jan 9, 2023 · Updated Apr 9, 2025

Arbitrary file upload in BraveNewCode WPtouch before 4.3.45 allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to write PHP files. The Custom Icons upload_file AJAX action accepts a double-extension image name such as a.jpg.php and stores it under a web-accessible wp-content path without rejecting the executable type. Menu icons must be enabled and administrator access is required; a stored PHP file can then be requested to execute code in the web server context.
