Arbitrary file write via unchecked direct path
Published Sep 12, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Arbitrary file write in MSI Feature Navigator 1.0.1808.0901 allows local users to copy any file into the PromoPhoto directory. The Promotion picture file picker displays an image-extension filter but accepts a pasted direct path and copies the selected file without validating its type or size. A local user who can operate the Settings interface can place an existing file in the Program Files PromoPhoto folder; published evidence does not show execution or writes outside that folder.
