Code execution via malicious request dependency
Published Jun 24, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Malicious dependency inclusion in Togglee 0.0.8 allows attackers to execute code and steal sensitive data during package installation. Version 0.0.8 declares the malicious request package, causing pip to resolve and install code that retrieves a native RAT and an information-stealing payload. Execution requires a user or build system to install the affected release from an index or mirror that still serves request; the payload runs with the installer's privileges and exposes browser data and digital-currency keys.
