Process crash via zero page-size division
Published Aug 22, 2023 · Updated Oct 3, 2024
The CVE record states that denial of service in etcd 3.5.4 allows remote attackers to crash the process through PageWriter.Write. NewPageWriter accepts a zero pageBytes value, so PageWriter.Write divides by zero when processing a buffer longer than its default size. The etcd maintainers state that all callers pass positive constants and that no remote path to the condition was reproduced, so they dispute the security impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
