CVE-2022-34012Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Account takeover via unchecked password-reset user ID

Published Jun 23, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Improper authorization in OneBlog 2.3.4 allows remote authenticated users to reset higher-privileged account passwords. PassportController's updatePwd endpoint loads an attacker-selected user ID and compares the supplied password with that target account rather than the session user. A low-level administrator must know or guess the target's current password; success permits takeover of the chosen administrative account.
