CVE-2022-33980Public exploit

Code execution via default script interpolation

Published Jul 6, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Expression injection in Apache Commons Configuration 2.4 through 2.7 allows attackers to execute commands via untrusted properties. ConfigurationInterpolator enables the default script lookup to pass attacker-controlled expressions to the JVM scripting engine when a property is read. An application must place untrusted data in a configuration file or property and later retrieve it; DNS and URL lookups can also trigger outbound contact.
