Unauthorized PC connection via unprotected Binder call
Published Aug 5, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper access control in Samsung DeX for PC on Android 12 allows local users to scan for and connect to a PC through a Binder call. The DeX service exposes the Binder operation for PC discovery and connection without checking the caller’s required permission. A locally installed application on an Android 12 Samsung device before SMR Aug-2022 Release 1 can invoke it without user interaction, causing unauthorized PC discovery and connection.
