CVE-2022-3353Network attack vector

New MMS connection denial via crafted message sequence

Published Feb 21, 2023 · Updated Mar 12, 2025

Improper resource release in affected Hitachi Energy products allows remote attackers to block new IEC 61850 MMS client connections. A specially crafted message sequence drives the MMS communication stack into a state that stops accepting new clients without terminating established sessions. Network access to the MMS server is required, and the consequence is limited to denial of new connections rather than disruption of established sessions.
