Administrator-session script execution via unsanitized task name
Published Sep 28, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Stored cross-site scripting in Zephyr Project Manager 3.2.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to run script in an administrator's browser. The task-creation REST endpoint accepts an onanimationstart event handler in the name parameter without authorization, sanitization, or output escaping, then stores it for display in task lists. No account is required, but execution requires a logged-in administrator to view a list containing the malicious task, exposing data and actions available in that browser session.
