Memory corruption via unchecked HLOS message copy
Published Mar 7, 2023 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Buffer overflow in Qualcomm Snapdragon HLOS firmware allows local users to corrupt memory through an oversized input message. The HLOS message handler copies attacker-controlled input into a fixed-capacity buffer without first verifying that the message length fits. Local low-privileged access is required; successful corruption can compromise execution or crash the affected device.
