Transient modem interruption via crafted SIB1 message
Published Mar 7, 2023 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Reachable assertion in Qualcomm Snapdragon modem firmware allows remote attackers to interrupt cellular service with a crafted SIB1 message. The modem processes an untrusted SIB1 broadcast into an assertion path, terminating the affected modem operation instead of rejecting the message. Exploitation requires control of cellular network signaling or a rogue base station, and the documented consequence is a transient service interruption.
