Authenticated command execution via unneutralized ssid_hex
Published Oct 25, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
OS command injection in Abode Systems, Inc. iota All-In-One Security Kit 6.9X and 6.9Z allows remote authenticated users to execute commands. The /root/hpgw wirelessConnect handler inserts ssid_hex directly into a wpa_cli command string without encoding or validation, then executes it as root through popen. Reachability requires wireless functionality and the local web interface to be enabled, plus an authenticated HTTP request; successful exploitation grants root command execution.
