Unauthenticated command execution via unsanitized Alexa regCode
Published Oct 25, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
OS command injection in Abode Systems, Inc. iota All-In-One Security Kit 6.9Z allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via XCMD. The setAlexa handler stores an attacker-controlled regCode, and dns_action_proc_action inserts that value into a dns-sd command passed to popen_write without neutralizing shell metacharacters. An unauthenticated UDP/55050 service exposes XCMD execution; successful exploitation changes the Alexa configuration and executes commands on the security hub.
