CVE-2022-33182

Authenticated root escalation via switch commands

Published Oct 25, 2022 · Updated May 7, 2025

Privilege escalation in Brocade Fabric OS CLI before listed fixed releases allows local authenticated users to gain root through switch commands. The supportlink, firmwaredownload, portcfgupload, license, and fosexec commands improperly permit execution with root privileges instead of preserving the caller's restricted authority. Access requires an authenticated local CLI session on a Brocade switch, and successful exploitation grants root-level control of the Fabric OS system.
