Restricted-shell escape via set context command
Published Oct 25, 2022 · Updated May 9, 2025
Privilege escalation in Brocade Fabric OS before 9.1.0, 9.0.1e, 8.2.3c, and 7.4.2j allows local users to escape restricted shells. The Fabric OS CLI permits the set context command from a restricted shell, but Broadcom has not disclosed the missing authorization check or implementation flaw. A local authenticated account with restricted-shell access is required; successful exploitation crosses that role boundary and exposes higher privileges.
