Authentication bypass via programmable smartcard reset

Authentication bypass in BSI-Bund de.fac2 1.34 allows local users to defeat FIDO U2F user-presence checks through host malware. The applet treats a reader-issued reset as equivalent to physical card removal and reinsertion, restoring the presence state without a new physical action. Malware must already control the host PC or smartphone and its reader; the bypass permits further U2F operations without renewed physical presence.
