CVE-2022-33140Network attack vector

Authenticated command injection via shell group lookup

Published Jun 15, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Command injection in Apache NiFi 1.10.0 through 1.16.2 and NiFi Registry 0.6.0 through 1.16.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands. ShellUserGroupProvider passes user-derived identifiers from single-user and single-group refresh paths into operating-system group lookup commands without neutralizing command elements. Exposure requires the optional provider and elevated authorization: policy modification in NiFi or user-group read access in Registry.
