Local privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Jun 29, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Unquoted service path handling in NetSarang XLPD 7.0.0094 and earlier allows local users to launch processes with elevated privileges. The Windows service registration stores an executable path containing spaces without enclosing the full path in quotation marks, causing service startup to search ambiguous path components. A low-privileged user who can place an executable in a searched location can have that process launched with the service account's privileges.
