Application crash via stale object-array pointer
Published Jun 22, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Heap use-after-free in GNU LibreDWG 0.12.4.4608 allows attackers to crash a processing application via a crafted pre-R13 DWG file. When dwg_add_object reallocates the object array, decode_preR13_section retains and then reads a pointer into the freed allocation. Exploitation requires the crafted file to be opened or converted; the public reproducer demonstrates an AddressSanitizer-detected abort in dwg2dxf, not code execution.
