Arbitrary file upload via unchecked attachment type
Published Jun 27, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Arbitrary file upload in Halo CMS 1.5.3 allows remote authenticated users to store attacker-chosen files through the admin attachment endpoint. AttachmentServiceImpl accepts the uploaded file without validating its suffix, content, or format and returns the stored file path. An admin authorization token is required; uploaded HTML executes script when accessed, while server-side execution depends on deployment handling.
