AMF crash via null-byte JSON payload
Published Sep 26, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Denial of service in the Open5GS AMF API in 2.4.0 through 2.4.10 allows remote authenticated users to crash the AMF. The API accepts a null-byte JSON payload, and the affected HTTP/2 buffering paths terminate on failed memory allocation instead of dropping the request. Access to the AMF service-based API is required, and successful exploitation interrupts AMF service without reported data access or modification.
