DNS cache poisoning in Knot Resolver 5.5.1 and earlier allows remote attackers controlling a configured forwarder to inject DNS records. The policy module filters only the original client request, while its forwarding action sends related subqueries to the same forwarder and caches arbitrary returned records. Exploitation requires a filtered forwarding rule and a malicious or compromised forwarder; records protected by DNSSEC validation remain unaffected.
