Kernel memory corruption via misindexed ptrace registers

Buffer overflow in Linux kernel 5.18.3 and earlier allows local users on 32-bit PowerPC systems to read or overwrite thread data. The PEEKUSER and POKEUSER paths treat 64 floating-point word indexes as indexes into a 32-entry register array, enabling 256-byte accesses beyond the array into thread_struct fields. Exploitation requires local ptrace access to another process; overwritten fields include pointers, and observed consequences include system hangs and other misbehavior.
