Code execution via unchecked card OS length
Published Jul 20, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in affected HiCOS client 3.x builds allows physically proximate attackers to execute arbitrary code. The platform PKCS#11 library reads OS information from an inserted IC card without validating the parameter length, causing data to overrun a stack buffer. Exploitation requires physical access to present a crafted card; successful attacks can execute code, alter system data, or interrupt the client service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
