Privilege escalation in Insyde InsydeH2O kernel 5.1 through 5.5 allows local users to corrupt SMRAM through a DMA race. The SdMmcDevice command buffer remains shared between SMM and non-SMM code, allowing DMA to change link data or pointers after validation but before use. Successful exploitation requires local low-privileged access and winning a high-complexity timing window, allowing unauthorized modification of SMM-protected memory.
