Process-memory disclosure or crash via binary over-read
Published Sep 23, 2022 · Updated May 22, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in AppleScript in Apple macOS allows attackers to crash a process or disclose its memory via a crafted binary. AppleScript processing reads beyond a buffer because validation does not reject the malformed compiled script, although Apple has not identified the parsing function or field. Attackers must cause a local user to process the file; affected releases are Catalina before Security Update 2022-005, Big Sur before 11.6.8, and Monterey before 12.5.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
