Memory corruption in AppleAVD in Apple macOS before 13 allows local users to crash the system through a malicious app. AppleAVDUserClient unmaps an IOSurface without taking the surface lock before completing deallocation, allowing concurrent mapping and unmapping to corrupt kernel memory. Execution of a malicious local app and successful triggering of the race are required; the vendor-documented consequence is service interruption.
