CVE-2022-32826

Root privilege escalation via state authorization flaw

Published Sep 23, 2022 · Updated May 22, 2025

Authorization issue in Apple operating systems allows local users' apps to gain root privileges via AppleMobileFileIntegrity state handling. The component's authorization state management accepts an app transition that should remain unprivileged, crossing the boundary into root access. An app must already run on the affected device; Apple documents no remote trigger, and the consequence is privilege escalation rather than a stated kernel takeover.
