Arbitrary command execution via unvalidated PPA arguments
Published Oct 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Command injection in Puppet Puppetlabs APT before 9.0.0 allows attackers to execute arbitrary OS commands through crafted module input. The apt::ppa defined type accepts malformed resource names and raw string options, then constructs Exec commands without safe argument separation. Exploitation requires control of unsanitized module parameters, a rare deployment condition, and runs commands on the managed Linux node.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
