CVE-2022-32744Network attack vector

Domain takeover via cross-key kpasswd ticket acceptance

Published Aug 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Authentication bypass in Samba 4.3 and later allows remote authenticated users to change any domain user's password via kpasswd. The kpasswd service decrypts tickets without restricting decryption to its own keys, so tickets encrypted with an attacker's account key are accepted. Any domain user can target the Administrator account, gaining total domain control and the ability to deny account access.
