Local privilege escalation via mtk-aie use-after-free
Published Jan 3, 2023 · Updated Apr 10, 2025
Use-after-free in MediaTek mtk-aie on Android 11.0 through 13.0 allows local users with System privileges to escalate privileges. The mtk-aie component mishandles object lifetime after improper input validation, leaving freed memory available for reuse because of a logic error. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges, needs no user interaction, and can compromise confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
