Local privilege escalation via unchecked ISP write
Published Dec 5, 2022 · Updated Apr 24, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in MediaTek ISP on affected Android 12.0 chipsets allows local users with System privileges to escalate privileges. The ISP component fails to check an input boundary before writing, allowing data to be written beyond the intended buffer. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges but no user interaction, and successful memory corruption grants higher local privilege.
