Local privilege escalation via incorrect bounds check
Published Dec 5, 2022 · Updated Apr 24, 2025
Improper input validation in MediaTek display software on Android 11.0 and 12.0 allows local users to elevate privileges. The display component applies an incorrect bounds check before a write, permitting data to be written outside the intended buffer. Exploitation requires System execution privileges but no user interaction, and successful abuse elevates privileges locally.
