Local privilege escalation via WLAN use-after-free
Published Oct 7, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Use-after-free in MediaTek WLAN software on Android 11.0, Android 12.0, and Yocto 3.1 and 3.3 allows local users to elevate privileges. An incorrect status check permits the WLAN component to continue using an object after its memory has been freed. Exploitation requires System execution privileges, does not require user interaction, and yields local privilege escalation on affected MediaTek chipsets.
