CVE-2022-32553Network attack vector

Root shell escape via environment variable manipulation

Published Jun 22, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Privilege escalation in Pure Storage Purity//FA and Purity//FB allows remote authenticated users to gain an unrestricted root shell. The restricted login shell accepts attacker-controlled environment-variable manipulation that defeats its command restrictions. A valid product login is required; successful exploitation removes the restricted-shell boundary and grants root control of the storage appliance.
