Administrative API impersonation via cleartext tokens
Published May 9, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Cleartext transmission in Nuki Bridge v1 before 1.22.0 and v2 before 2.13.2 allows attackers to steal administrative API tokens. The administrative API places its authentication token in unencrypted HTTP GET requests; its optional timestamp-and-random-number SHA-256 scheme still permits inexpensive offline recovery. Any device on the local network can passively capture the token, impersonate a legitimate client, and access the full API endpoint set.
