CVE-2022-32489

SMRAM code execution via improperly validated SMI

Published Oct 12, 2022 · Updated May 15, 2025

Improper input validation in Dell Client Platform BIOS allows local users to execute arbitrary code in SMRAM through an SMI. Dell identifies the SMI path but has not disclosed the input, handler, or validation operation that accepts it. Administrative privileges and access to an affected physical client system are required, and successful exploitation compromises firmware-protected memory.
