Remote code execution via exposed configuration credentials
Published Aug 9, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Authentication bypass in Mega System Technologies MSNSwitch MNT.2408 allows remote attackers to obtain credentials and execute commands. The ExportSettings.sh endpoint returns Account1 and Password1 configuration values without authentication, and /goform/login accepts those exposed credentials. From the device's local subnet, upgrade.cgi passes a crafted firmware_url containing backtick-delimited shell commands into a command context, providing command execution on the appliance.
