CVE-2022-32324Public exploit

Converter crash via uninitialized strncat destination

Published Jul 1, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Heap buffer overflow in PDFAlto 0.4 allows attackers to crash the converter via an input path that reaches vulnerable startup code. The main routine allocates an uninitialized heap buffer for thePath, then uses strncat as though the destination were already NUL-terminated. Exploitation requires PDFAlto to process an attacker-controlled path; the published proof of concept demonstrates an AddressSanitizer abort, not code execution.
