Application crash via BMP parser buffer overwrite
Published Jun 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Improper input validation in SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer 9.0 allows context-dependent attackers to crash the application via a crafted BMP file. The BMP parser fails to validate user-supplied data before writing past the end of an allocated buffer. Exploitation requires a user to open the file or visit malicious content, and the documented availability loss lasts until the Viewer is restarted.
