Authenticated user-data disclosure via unsanitized query
Published Sep 23, 2022 · Updated May 22, 2025
Information disclosure in Rocket.Chat before 4.7.5 allows remote authenticated users to read other users' data via users.list. The users.list REST endpoint passes a client-supplied JSON query directly to Users.find, letting the client shape the database query and retrieve fields outside its authorization. Any authenticated account is sufficient, and exposure covers virtually all stored user data except password hashes.
